In July of 1995, when he was only 2 years old, Travis was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, which is a lethal and rare form of childhood cancer. This form of cancer leads to tumors throughout the body, including the brain. Travis had surgery and received chemotherapy and radiation treatments that made him weak and sick. Travis's mom Sue says that he was very thin, had no hair, and could not eat. He was a very sick little boy. The worst part was that the treatments did not work.
Then Sue Murphy learned of Dr. Burzynski and took her little boy to Houston. Travis began antineoplaston treatment in March of 1998. Only 2 months after beginning treatment with antineoplastons his VMA and HVA levels have returned to normal, and the cancer has not grown since he began treatment. Today, Travis's condition is stable, and his tumors are not growing. What's more, he looks happy and healthy.
Although Travis is doing well on antineoplaston therapy, his health care insurance refuses to pay for the treatments that are keeping him alive. Therefore, Sue, a single mother of three, must rely on her community. After reading about Travis in a local newspaper article, an 11-year-old girl named Emily raised $1,000 by placing jars in the classrooms at her school. And, an anonymous donor donated $6,000!
Travis says, "I think I'm in love with [Emily]." Travis just celebrated his sixth birthday. Sue Murphy said, "My birthday wish for Travis is that he sees his seventh birthday... that's my wish."
