Sometime during the 1980’s, I read an article about Dr. Burzynski’s treatment for cancer. I filed it away “just in case”. The day I needed it came years later in March 2010 when, at age 72, I was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer.
I did not think my system could tolerate ‘standard of care’ treatment, so considered several alternatives. I decided to contact the Burzynski Clinic because I liked Dr. B’s gene-targeted approach, his successes, and the fact I could have most of my treatment reasonably close-to-home yet have the support offered by the Burzynski treatment structure.
After recovery from debulking surgery, and before any other treatment, I went to the clinic. I was immediately impressed with the thoroughness of evaluation given me, the staff, and the respect shown to me as a patient. Later, I really appreciated how carefully the treatment - which included low-dose chemo - was initiated and supervised. That first visit I stayed 14 days. Subsequent visits I stayed 1 or 2 days.
After 3 months, my cancer was 50% reduced. After 6 months there was no change, so my protocol was adjusted. A “complete response” occurred within the next 3 months. That was 10 months ago and I remain cancer free. My oral medications are being gradually withdrawn. I have felt quite well throughout and have maintained my usual activities, though I did decide to retire.
While I was frustrated at times, doing cancer treatment long distance and in a manner not understood by most of the medical and insurance communities, my experience with the Burzynski Clinic has been very positive. I would do it again. There is so much more that could be said. Please feel free to contact me. I know you have your own questions, and I would be very glad to talk with you.
