Mary Lou Berger
I was diagnosed with Lung cancer in Aug. 2010, I was having a lot of pain in my left arm my doctor thought it was nerve damage and suggested x rays. I went to an Orthopedic doctor who informed me it was a very large secondary cancer. I had a biopsy done on the mass on my lung which was found to be the primary, had spread to the left arm and right rib. The doctor at Robert Wood Johnson gave me 12 to 18 monthes. (I did not accept that).
I then went to Cancer treatment Centers of America, whom I must say were very good,I had to have a plate put in my arm because of the damage done, then started radiation. While all the time my brother who had followed what the Burzynski clinic is doing (in his gentle way was coaxing to call them). Mary Jo when I tell you to this day I never felt hopeless, I always looked to my faith and family for strength. The turning point for me was when my doctor at CTCA, gave me 1 year, at that point I said to my brother let's make the arrangements at the clinic in Texas.
I left for Houston the day after Thanksgiving last year spending 2 weeks, my husband had to stay home with my 11 year old. The day I got to the clinic I knew I was where I was supposed to be. The people are so caring Dr. Burzynski and all of his staff are angels. It was very, very hard being out there alone during the holidays, but again strength got me through it.
This month is 1 year since I started treatment scans have been extremely favorable with me tumor marker number going from 70 last Sept to 13 this month, no sign of tumors except for some remaining on the rib. I know this forward progress is because of what the Dr's at the clinic have done, I do know there is still work to be done, it is just amazing, I would especially like to thank Dr. Greg, no matter what time of day or night he would always reply to me. I look at them all out there as angels. If I could be of any help in any why please let me know. Thank you so much for getting in touch with me.
